Tom's Mobil Service opened on Rice Street in 1957 and has been fixing cars for Roseville ever since. Eisenhower was president. The cars that pulled in had carburetors and the attendant checked your oil without being asked. Almost everything about the vehicles has changed since then. What hasn't changed is the part that mattered: you get told the truth about your car, and you get a price before the work starts.

Longevity in this trade isn't a slogan, it's arithmetic. A shop that overcharges its neighbours does not stay on the same corner for seven decades — it changes its name and moves. We've kept the same address and the same phone number because the same families keep coming back, and their kids come back after them.

We are one of the last places around here where someone comes out and pumps your gas, checks your oil and cleans your windshield while you stay in the car. We keep it because it is genuinely useful in a Minnesota February — and because the same technicians who look under your hood at the island are the ones who work on it inside.
